Make sure you wash your hands with soap and water at regular intervals, and for at least 20 seconds each time.
If you can’t access soap and water, use hand sanitizers – for example after paying for goods or touching surfaces like door knobs. This also applies to other surfaces in public places. Click here to read more ways to protect yourself against infection.
Limit contact with other people. Handshakes and hugs carry risks, so find other ways to greet people – like smiling.
Try not to touch your face, especially your eyes, nose and mouth.
Quarantines for people who have been exposed to the virus and isolation for those who are infected are necessary measures to contain the outbreak. If you are a senior citizen or have underlying conditions that might make you more at risk, consider social distancing. Limit the social events and gatherings you attend and avoid people who show flu-like symptoms.
